Be a Light for Those Outside the Circle

Jesus was a rock star of sorts, drawing huge crowds, but many sadly failed to catch his message. Luke 18 notes Jesus' passing through the city of Jericho on his way to Jerusalem (where he would soon be betrayed and crucified).

Off to the side is this poor blind guy (Bartimaeus) who desperately needed Jesus’ help, but Bart was unable to get to him. Unfortunately, the crowd of fans tried to shush Bart so they could continue clamoring to get their glimpse, to catch his eye, to hear a word, or to feel the brush of his robe as he passed.

Thankfully, Bart kept yelling, AND Jesus, while the crowd pressed in, looked out.

Jesus, having his heart tuned to those in need, heard the blind man calling, and the stage for a grand miracle was set to take place. The KING stopped the procession, brought the beggar into his presence, and provided healing (physical & spiritual)!

The gaggle of viewers, who had gone silent with anticipation, erupted at observing the spectacle, ready to continue down the street, yet they remained blinded to the fact that they themselves were in need of healing! After all, one who truly embraced Jesus' love would begin to see the world like he did! A kind word and a leading hand from a follower of Jesus were all that were needed to get Bart to the center of the circle. No shushing necessary.
